About Us
Overview
Redistricting Solutions is a collaborative effort between three Texas law firms, all of which practice primarily in the field of Public Law. The attorneys brought together through this joint venture represent some of the state’s foremost leaders in the legal representation of counties, municipalities, schools and special districts. Under the umbrella of Redistricting Solutions, these three law firms combine forces to provide unparalleled education and experience in Voting Rights from the local government perspective.
As a team, the lawyers of Redistricting Solutions are capable of guiding multiple political subdivisions concurrently.
The redistricting process addresses four basic legal principles:
- One Person-One Vote under the U.S. Constitution (equal population);
- Section 5 of the US Voting Rights Act (requiring preclearance and applying a retrogression standard to minority group populations in specific districts);
- Non-discrimination standard of Section 2 of the US Voting Rights Act; and
- Shaw v. Reno line of cases (limitations on the use of race as a factor in redistricting).
