As March 2010 rapidly approaches, the nation is preparing for the decennial household survey by the U.S. Census Bureau. The Census results will affect political representation and federal funding. Thus, at this point many political subdivisions are taking steps to ensure an accurate count.
Soon, however, cities, counties, school districts, and special districts need to determine how to respond to the data compiled by the U.S. Census Bureau. Those governmental entities whose boards include representatives elected from single-member districts must prepare to evaluate the Census results in light of the Constitutional One Person / One Vote mandate, and consider redrawing district boundary lines in accordance with the U.S. Voting Rights Act, and related case-law.
Following the 2000 Census, the members of the law firms gathered as Redistricting Solutions shepherded many Texas governmental bodies (large and small, urban and rural) through the Redistricting Process. By choosing a Redistricting Solutions law firm, the elected leaders of Texas will be in good hands throughout what can be a rather sensitive political and legal activity.
Redistricting Solutions is a cooperative undertaking by Public Law attorneys Alan J. Bojorquez, Greg Hudson, and Sara H. Leon, who collectively have experience providing redistricting services to cities, counties, schools, and special districts. The principal place of business for Redistricting Solutions is centrally located at 1706 West 6th Street, Austin, Texas 78703-4703.
